Little Christmas Elf Card

Hi everyone! This month’s theme is Christmas here at Crafty Card Gallery and I am here to share my take on this month’s theme. Also if you didn’t know there is only 36 days until Christmas. It is so hard to believe that it is right around the corner. YIKES! I have been on a quest to try and use up scraps of cardstock on projects and this is what I came up with just using bits and pieces I had laying around.
I started with a 6″x6″ piece of Red Plain Linen Cardstock which I folded to 3″x6″ to create the card base. I ran a scrap of Brick Glitter Cardstock through my diecut machine using the Spellbinders Long Classic Scalloped Rectangle die and then I embossed it with the Snow Globe folder. Next I gathered more scraps and cut into banners and adhered to the card. The little tab that sticks out on the card is actually a clothing tag that I inked the edges and covered with some cardstock, sequin and dew drop.

The little “elf” girl I found online but I can’t remember where so if I do remember I will add the link. I printed her off and fussy cut out. I cut a little pointy hat out and glued it and the little girl to the card base.

I used the poinsettia diecut and cut the flower out three times and shaped with a stylus. I glued together, added a bit of green Ric Rac and metallic thread along with a gold sequin and dew drop to finish off the poinsettia.
If you have any questions about this card please let me know.

Thanks for stopping by, hope your Wednesday is awesome and enjoy creating!

CHA Day 1

So you’re getting my second attempt at my CHA day 1 post since the blogger app on my ipad decided to delete the first one (ARGH!)

So we went to CHA (Craft & Hobby Association) trade show yesterday, our first day there but the 2nd day of the show.  If you don’t know what CHA is it’s like every craft store you’ve ever seen times a million… Sadly you can’t buy anything but there are booths for everything – crafts you’ve never even heard of before…  So we started on the far right and made it through about 1/3 of the show floor yesterday.
So here’s what we noticed in terms of trends:
-Gold – we saw lots of gold EVERYWHERE… very trendy – glitter, gold accents, embellishments, foiling
-pastels – a lot of pastel usage, we didn’t see much “Marsala – color of the year”
-home decor – everyone is showing paper crafting & painting supplies being used for home decor – wreaths, giant clipboards with art on them, pictures with embellishments on them
-paper flowers – we saw a lot of paper flowers – big ones, small ones, kits for you to make your own
-die cuts continue to be the trend (lots of dies to go with stamps
-mixed media continues to be big too – saw a lot of paint/letters/stickers/canvas mashups that looked fabulous
-project life – “easy” scrapbooking kits are very popular
we also took a copic coloring class with Sandy Allnock – I actually colored well!!!!!
So since we’re getting ready to head out, I’ll leave you with a few pictures….
