You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch

Hi everyone!

Welcome to this months Crafty Card Gallery card challenge. Theme: Christmas
This is my favourite time of year – from decorating the house to designing cards, it’s pure bliss.

Here is my card for this months challenge and tutorial to follow…

Background – Tim Holtz Watercolor Card Stock (I used the smooth side) or Strathmore mixed media paper (brown series)

Using a blending tool, blend various distress inks on paper. I used Antique Linen and Iced Spruce.

Next use a Mini mister or spray bottle and mist into your hand then flick the water onto the paper, and heat set. This gives the illusion of water droplets. This background technique is super fun and easy.

Stamp Crazy Birds in Black archival ink with Black embossing powder, heat set. I find this last step easier when colouring and it gives more definition. I used mixed media paper, because I was making a lot of them.

For the colouring of the Crazy Birds, I used Neocolor 2, water soluble crayons – they work well and come in various colors. You can also use Ranger distress markers.

There is an option for cutting out those Crazy Birds and accessories. You can either fussy cut them or use the Sizzix coordinating dies, which are super cute and easy to use.

I used the balloon string stamp from the Crazy Things stamp set and dies to create the “whip” and Holiday Joy stamp set/die for the antlers on the “dog”.
The beauty of having the coordinating dies, is you can add layers to the birds, to give them more dimension.

For a nice finish, glossy accents was put on certain areas of the birds to give dimension and crackle accents on the whip. The outlines around the background I used a Fabre-Castel Pitt pen (black-medium). For mounting onto card stock, any colour is fine. I usually try and coordinate them.

I just love playing with the “Craziness”, the possibilities are endless!

Thanks a bunch for stopping by and happy creating!

Christina
