Cropped Challenge, March

Hi!
Welcome to the Cropped Challenge!
So if you’re new to my blog, a bit of explanation.  Back in October it was my blog-a-versary.  So I wanted to do something FUN!!! to celebrate.  I have a TV in my craft room, and I often watch/listen to the show Chopped on Food Network. If you’ve never seen the show, it’s quite entertaining. Chefs get a basket of mystery ingredients with just a few minutes, and have to come up with an amazing meal. I find the show quite entertaining, especially when the ingredients seem so… random…
So I posted on my Facebook page that I wanted to do something different and was looking for volunteers – and there were 8 ladies who were brave enough to join me in an unknown challenge!
It was such a hit that I’ve done it a few times since… Everyone seems to enjoy it and it’s definitely a challenge to use these random products together… And so cool to see how everyone does it differently!
Here’s what I told them:
The contents of the envelopes are:
1) Border strip, and a flower. Both were cut from my Cameo, and are white. You have discretion to add whatever color/texture to them; but they should be recognizable on your card. If you haven’t made a flower like this before, let me know, I can try & put a video up or something…  if you’d like to play, you can find them in the Silhoutte market – silhouette rolled rose

silhouette assorted decorative lace band

2) A toilet paper roll. Lots of people have been doing great things with them. You don’t have to use the whole thing; and you can change the color. But I should be able to tell that there is some added dimension to some object on your card (for example, you punch or cut shapes or letters out of it).
3) Some Stampin Up! silver stamping glass. This is a really chunky glitter. You can do whatever you want with it but I must be able to see that some of it is on your card.
4) One more thing – not in your envelope. You must have some sort of texture evident on your card – you can use your cuttlebug, make lines with a scoring tool, whatever you want to do. But the card must have some texture (doesn’t have to be on the whole card).

The only rules were:
You 1) can use any other items you like (card stock, bling, stickers, markers, stamps, etc) on the card. You clearly will need a card base 2) You must use all of the items I sent you, and they have to be identifiable (but you don’t have to use all of it in the card). 3) This challenge only – you can change the color of any item I’ve sent you. They don’t have to stay white. 4) Card can be any size, and any fold you like. 5) Card can be any theme you like….
I gave them a few weeks (just in case the mail was slow), and they created some phenominal cards!!! I have to say, when I was putting all of the pieces together, I couldn’t imagine any cards as awesome as what was created!

Here’s the contents of the envelope:

Bunnies and Blossoms Banner Hop

Welcome to the Bunnies and Blossoms Banner Hop for Special Needs Children.
Yesterday and Today (March 24-25), 30+fantastic papercrafters have come together to create Spring-themed banners. They will then donate these banners to Ellen (CardMonkey), who works asAdmissions Coordinator at Pediatric Specialty Care (PSC), www.pediatricspecialty.com.
PSC is a long-term care facility for specialneeds children who are medically-fragile and/or technologically-dependent. Thebabies, children and youths at PSC range in age from birth to 21, and areadmitted from all over the country.
Some are infants, born prematurely and beforetheir lungs have had a chance to mature. Others have serious birth defects, illnesses or injuries from accidents that cause them to need tender loving carein a home-like environment — many for their lifetimes.
Our banners are meant to cheer the youngpatients, their families, and the staff at PSC. Here is the banner that I madeand will be sending to Ellen to decorate a child’s room:
I cut everything with my new Cameo…
I read someone’s tip on using a straw to string the ribbon.  It made it a million times easier!  see the straw in between the two layers???

I used some stickler on the flowers, and colored them with copies…

I designed the bunnies all by my self in the Cameo software!  I used goggly eyes and hand drew the nose on………Gotta love goggly eyes!

I used the free font from Lettering Delights to spell Joy – http://www.letteringdelights.com/alphabet:girl_power-7913.html  and I put some stickles on the letters….

We DO have a tasty bit of blog candyto thank you for visiting us today! What’s the prize??!
How about a beautiful handmade (courtesy of our Blog Hop Hostess, CardMonkey!) Cricut Cozy Covers?! Each one is individually styled in your pick of colors and embroidered words! These are RARE because CardMonkey does not make them for sale and she usually sticks to paper, not sewing!!
To qualify, there are two steps: 1. Comment on as many Bunny & Blossoms Blog Hop blogs as you wish — the more blogs on which you comment, the more chances you have to win. There will only be one winner, picked at random by Random.Org.
2. Follow and comment on the CardMonkey blog … Leave a comment on our Hop Hostess’s site (http://cardmonkey-business.blogspot.com) and let her know if your name is picked, what 2 accent colors you’d like on your Cricut Cozy Cover, andw hat text you’d like embroidered (up to 3 lines). You MUST be a follower of the CardMonkey blog to win and you MUST leave a way for her to contact you if your name is picked.

Here’s the sketch:

Here’s my card:
(yes, I turned the card over)

Side view so you can see texture/dimension

So I used a scallop edged card die at my local scrapbook store.  The lighter pink oval (which looks like a nesting oval die) was cut with my Cameo. I cut an oval in the center (since I didn’t really have an idea what kind of sentiment it was going to get).  I used the roses (trimmed off the stem & glued them down), and added ice stickler to some.  I used rhinestones on the scallop edge and also pearls on the scallop oval.
Hope you like my card!
