Guest Designer: Susan Bermudez: It’s almost time for the Wearin’ of the Green

Greetings all and thank you for stopping by. This week I get to be guest designer for Crafty Card Gallery. I met Jenn on Facebook and am in love with her Ipod touch app. If you have not seen it yet, please check it out. I decided to branch out for this design team assignment.

I so wish I had a cartridge that had an elegant black cat but necessity is the mother of invention. I took the cat from Mini Monsters cartridge and hid it’s features with my Gypsy. Once I cut it I decided that she needed bling and some googly eyes. I am in St. Patrick’s Day Mode so I decided she wanted an Irish derby hat. She is sitting in some grass waiting for her dinner. I know I am so looking forward to my corned beef and cabbage. I think I am going to make Irish soda bread this year as well. I hope that you will stop by during the week and see what else I will have to share. Until next time…

Sketch Blog Hop 2-18-12

Welcome to another Sketch Blog Hop. Everyone has had so much fun doing these it’s turned into a regular event! Welcome to day 2! You’re at the first stop in the hop! Grab your favorite beverage and sit back & hop along with us!
Here’s the sketch:
And here’s my card:

If you follow my blog normally, you know I LOVE Bo Bunny Paper, and this is some more Bo Bunny.  This is also my first Cameo Card… So here are a few photos…

I designed the card in the software program that came with the Cameo.  It’s pretty self explanatory, luckily, since I’m challenged with this type of stuff… 🙂

So I strategically loaded my paper (I do that with my Cricut too)…. And proceeded to make my first cut!
I did underestimate the weight of the card stock and ended up re-cutting (on new paper since I didn’t line it up right) the pink portions. The letters, which were on the black paper, and were tiny, I had to do a little work on a few of them but they did cut cleanly…

The pink card stock came out great on the second cut…

Making the flower.  I think there must be a tool for that – I’ll be looking online… 🙂
Much better after adding a gem & using my topic to get the edges…
I’m not a fan of itty bitty letters, but they worked out pretty well.  I don’t think I’ve ever don’t that on my Cricut…
Overall, I’m happy with the Cameo – and will definitely feel better about playing with it!  I hope you enjoyed my first card!
This is an anniversary card for my parents, this will be 44 years of marriage for them…  I’m not going to post the card on Facebook and hope that my mom won’t click the link to my blog… 🙂 They’re great parents and I’m happy to make them a card to celebrate!

And here’s my card:

If you follow my blog normally, you know I LOVE Bo Bunny Paper, and this is some of that paper (I had left overs).  This is all scraps from previous cards…  Yeah!
The scallop is from the Art Philosophy kit, I used chalk on it to get it green.  I fussy cut one of the flowers out to attach to the card.  I added bling from my i-rock kit (but I cheated and used glue since I couldn’t find my i-rock in my messy craft room… 🙂  Luckily my Mom has offered to help me clean it – just need to find a day to do it!

Here’s the complete line up –

Today, it’s time for the Sketch Challenge Blog Hop!

Hi, it’s me, Ellen, with another guest designer post for Jennifer …

Today, Jennifer is hosting another Sketch Challenge Blog Hop.

Jennifer started doing these sketch challenges a while ago, and everyone’s had so much fun that she’s turned it into a regular event.

The purpose of this hop is to show how all of these talented bloggers can take the same sketch and come up with totally different cards.

Above left, you’ll see the sketch challenge Jennifer provided to us.  I will post the card I made for the sketch challenge on my site (http://cardmonkey-business.blogspot.com), so you’ll just have to hop over there to see what I made.

But not to leave you high and dry here, I’d like to show a few pictures I pinned at PINTEREST to help inspire the vertical stripe theme:

Look at how close this is to the Sketch challenge,
with the bushes as the 4 vertical stripes and
the planters as the horizontal stripe, the chair
as the embellishment

Luscious looking in fun colors you wouldn’t
expect to see together.

More lusciousness! (I am getting hungry!)

Do these stripes make my hips look thinner?
Again, horizontal stripe at the moldings.

That’s putting your thinking cap on!

An unexpected illusion!

Stripes as a central design element.

If you’ve never used a card sketch before, give it a try! Be sure to check back on Saturday, as there will be some bloggers posting new cards on Day 2.

So grab a cup of coffee (or whatever your pleasure), and Hop on over to these blog sites to see how others have interpreted the Sketch:
