SCBGM – All about me book challenge 10/31

Hi!
I know, you’re probably thinking, this is a card gallery blog. I’m here for cards… why are you doing a scrapbook?
Well, I started off as a scrapbooker – but it was too time consuming (and I could never get caught up or stay even) and all the fun tools and supplies I had hoarded worked great for cardmaking… So I stuck with that… Sadly, I haven’t scrapbooked in a long time (except to make albums for other people)…
So when Gil http://scrappincreationsbygillm.blogspot.com/2011/09/scgbm-all-about-me-group-begins-today.html posted on Facebook about this group, I thought, here’s a reason to scrapbook! If I have an “obligation” on my list of things to do, I’ll do it…

So the first challenge is to decide on what our book is to be about, source a book, create a page, work out a plan for our books and give our book a title. There is no particular challenge theme for page one – just get creative.

So here’s what I decided…
I didn’t want to get intimidated by having a lot to do, so I decided to buy a smash book. This seemed like a good idea – if you’ve never seen a smash book, here’s the info: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PFsArr4Z1s The little video is quite convincing.

So I bought a red smashbook, and created one page already.
My plan for my book is to put random things about my life now… I think that I will find it interesting years from now to have a look at my day-to-day life – not just the things I would normally scrapbook (events, vacations, etc).

I hope to do things like how I spend my days (inspired from this article: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304657804576401890078537246.html) and historical events that have impacted my life. These will likely be less photo intensive and more word intensive (boo journaling!) but I’m looking forward to the challenge…

The title of the book is, of course, “Me” 🙂 I’m not all that imaginitive when it comes to things like that!

I liked using the Smash Book pads, since they started me out on the right track. 🙂

For my project I have created a card, of course!
I downloaded this digi stamp a while ago & finally got to use it, but then, of course I couldn’t figure out where I got it from!
So I googled, and found it (again) here: http://disdigidownloads.blogspot.com/
(Although I couldn’t find the exact stamp again, but did find other people who made a card with it and referenced it)…

Image was colored with Copics, background paper was DCWV and the polka dot paper is imaginisce 003340 and 003342. Happy Harvest stamp is Stampin Up.

Oct 22 – 23 All things Tim Burton

Boys and girls of every age, wouldn’t you like to see something strange? If you’re a Tim Burton fan, you will recognize that line from “This is Halloween” — a well-known song from the movie “The Nightmare Before Christmas”. With Halloween just around the corner, this is the perfect time to celebrate all things Tim Burton! We have a talented group of ladies on this weekend blog hop. Now, on to the project I would like to share with you:

My husband and I are big fans of Nightmare Before Christmas, so I had to make a NBC card…

This was a fairly easy card because I used Jolee’s… I used blue cardstock, plastic cardstock, and black cardstock. I free hand cut the image on black and edged in white. I made the moon and sponged it and the background a little bit. Jack & Sally came from the Jolee’s.

Love this card Jennifer! I have been sick all weekend with a cold (I hope) so have been sitting in bed with my daughter’s laptop when I am not sleeping. That said, as much as I love this sketch and would love to join in the challenge, don’t know if I will be able to. So in the meantime, I will just hop 🙂 Thanks for this fun sketch!
