I was very industrious over the weekend & cut out my pieces for my Thanksgiving cards, the pink kitty cards (which I posted the other day), and my Christmas tags for my card swap. Now I just need to get off the computer and put them together!!! I also need to figure out what to do for some cards I need next week. Need to stop being lazy!!! You ever have that problem? Anyone have a great corner rounder? Mine is really old & not working too well on the really thick card stock. Any suggestions on what I should buy for my replacement corner rounder?
I did the OWH Challenge – Sketch Challenge 43 and here’s my card!
I also used the freebie they had posted from As You Wish. I love the kitty& was happy to use paper that I already owned!!!!
I had a great time participating in the Operation Write Home Blog Hop this weekend… So much fun, in fact, that I (in association with a few other people) are coordinating a Blog Hop for Thanksgiving weekend November 27th – 28th. If you’d like to participate, comment below & I’ll get back to you with the details…. Here’s the cool logo….
Without further ado, I will announce the winners of the blog candy from the blog hop… (mainly because I’m impatient (it’s a strength!) and I would be dying to know…)
The winners are….. (drum roll please) –
Copy of the Bite Size Body Guide (most awesome diet & fitness journal, if I can say so myself) – Attegirl! (comment #10)
Copy of the super cool Crafty Card Gallery App – Shelley (comment #16)
Congratulations Ladies!!! Send me an email and I will mail you the book/send you free code for the app.
Since I’m an iPhone girl, I used the Random # app (free in Itunes app store)
And here’s a card for you….
This is my first Create a Critter Card!!! Thanks to Rhonda for assembly help! I love googly eyes!!!
I have a bunch of cards all cut out – just need to assemble! So you should get a couple of posts this week! I am talking to new designers and getting more cards for the next update of the app. My goal is to get it updated by Thanksgiving which should get the update in the app store early December (depends on how long Apple takes)….
Have a great week!!!
Welcome to the Crafty Card Gallery Blog!!!
I’m pleased to be part of the Operation Write Home “Be My Valentine” Blog Hop.
As you probably already know, Operation Write Home is a great organization that sends handmade cards to the troops so they can keep in touch with their families.
If you’d like to send cards to Operation Write Home, Valentines Day cards have to be submitted by January 7th. As an added incentive to send Valentines Day cards – check out this link http://www.owhhomefrontblog.org/2010/11/special-mission-due-dec-1.html
. Archway will send cookies to the troops too! YUM! It’s too late to send Christmas cards for this year. Please be sure to vote for Operation Write Home in JoAnn’s contest – they could win $50,000!!! You can only vote once per day. http://www.joann.com/CraftForaCause
Now on to my Valentines day card:
Front, card closed
Inside of card – side panels were left blank to leave room to write
Card from the back so you can see the folds & the paper covering the ribbon
This was sort of difficult to do for the initial card, but now that I’ve done one, I think it would be easier to mass produce. I used my Gypsy & Cricut to cut out the shape. (I welded 4 hearts together). I then cut out the different pieces of paper by hand (I cut a template with the Cricut) so that I could have the right paper pattern portion show. I used paper, bling and stickers from Bo Bunny, as well as some colored cardstock & ribbon. I love the little birds in this paper! I put a magnet in the ribbon so that the recipient wouldn’t have to re-tie it (I always have a hard time tying bows!)
Here’s a video of the card opening & re-closing, if you’d like to watch it:
And in case I couldn’t get this card to work, I had thought up a “backup card”. I got the free digi from Julietk Blog
, used Bo Bunny paper as a background, used a Stampin up border punch on the red paper, and used Bo Bunny bling. I colored the cats with Stampin Up Watercolor Wonders. I thought the image of the two cats was just adorable.
Bonus!!! BLOG CANDY!!!
Leave a comment below for a chance to be entered to win some blog candy! There will be 2 prizes, and I will select the winners randomly on Monday night 11/15.
I am also having a giveaway on my blog & facebook page, so you can check those out below for a chance to win a $20 Oh My Crafts or Amazon.com gift card…
